Ministry Of Defence (MoD) support for Veterans - As a veteran of the armed forces, you continue to be a part of the armed forces community and the MoD provide support organisations to provide a range of services.

Veterans UK - is the MoD’s dedicated veterans support organisation. It provides assistance on many issues including MoD’s injury and bereavement compensation schemes, armed forces pensions, benefits, housing and welfare.

Veterans Welfare Service (VWS) - is part of Veterans UK and committed to enhance the quality of life for veterans and beneficiaries of Veterans UK pensions and compensation schemes, and all their dependants.

Defence Transition Service - Dedicated MOD staff across the country help those few service leavers who may struggle as they transition into civilian life. Personnel and their families will receive expanded support and guidance, including in areas such as personal finance, accessing healthcare, housing costs and paying council tax. This bespoke support is provided while they approach their date of discharge and will not stop start when they leave the military. The support can continue for as long as it is needed. Referrals can be made by military units, serving personnel, their families or third party organisations. Follow this LINK for the referral forms. 

VWS and Defence Transition Services (DTS) caseworkers offer one to one professional help and guidance by telephone, or if needed, during a home visit. More information from the Veterans UK Helpline number above.

The Veterans Advisory and Pensions Committee - serves and support ex-servicemen and women, their widows or widowers and their immediate family members. The role of the committee is to provide assistance to veterans and create awareness of their needs.
