All Priority routes in Lancaster, Wyre and Fylde Districts will be gritted this evening

The Forecast is for Scattered cloud and sunny spells this afternoon with the odd shower, sleety over the highest ground, drifting in the west. Bright conditions give way to thickening cloud this evening ahead of a band of showers moving in from the north-west. These showers will be heavy and frequent between 1600 to 1900. In the heaviest showers, slushy deposists may accumulate above around 300m for a time. Wintry showers will continue overnight but RSTs will fall widely close to or below zero in the clear spells between the showers, introducing the risk of hoar frost and ice where roads remain damp from shower activity. Through the early hours, wintry showers will continue with the potential for further slushy accumulations by dawn above around 200m. Wintry showers will continue through the course of the morning with perhaps the most frequent in southern parts of the area by lunchtime.
