All priority routes in North Lancs to be gritted this evening & patrolled in the morning

There will be some sunny spells this afternoon. However, the westerly breeze will continue to blow a scattering of wintry showers of sleet and snow in from the Irish Sea These showers should largely die away by around 20:00 this evening, leaving the first half of tonight dry, clear and cold with RSTs widely subzero. Cloud will thicken through the early hours and a band of snow will then push northwards later in the night, and as morning approaches. A few hours of snow are likely in any one place, giving significant accumulations during the rush-hour, before the snow fizzles out and turns to drizzle tomorrow morning. RSTs will remain below zero in snow.
