Who you can nominate
Employees - all employees (except those in delegated schools and agency staff) can nominate and be nominated. This includes those staff who are seconded to other organisations.
Volunteers – all volunteers who are registered with Lancashire County Council can nominate and be nominated. This includes volunteers working in schools. They may be nominated in any category, except for Leadership Excellence Award.
Non-teaching staff working in schools – Non-teaching staff can nominate and be nominated (except in delegated schools). For example, teaching assistants, catering staff, caretakers, business managers, welfare assistants, business support staff, playworkers, nursery assistants or site supervisors.
Teams in schools - you can nominate a non-teaching team for the team award. For example, the catering team of a school or governors, but not the school as a whole, as it includes teaching staff.
Others who can nominate
Councillors - councillors can nominate staff but cannot be nominated themselves.
Teachers and headteachers - teaching staff can't be nominated. If you are a teacher or a headteacher, you can nominate and would be welcome to attend the awards ceremony alongside your colleague.
Nominations
You can nominate as many people as you like.
You can nominate the same person in different categories, provided they meet the entry criteria.
You may nominate a friend or relative who works for the county council if you can explain how they meet the criteria and justify why they should win the award you are nominating them for.
If more than one person nominates the same individual for an award, the first person to submit a nomination will be invited to attend as a guest. If this person were unable to attend, the next person would have the opportunity to go and so on.
No cash alternatives will be offered in place for the prize of the annual leave.
Award categories
For the Leadership Excellence Award, you can nominate any manager for the award, not just your own current manager.
Teams can only be nominated for the High Performing Team Award. You can't nominate a team for an individual award.
You can't nominate yourself for any of the individual awards. You can, if you wish, nominate your own team for the High Performing Team Award, or your own manager for the Leadership Excellence Award.
Selection process
All nominations received will be judged against the criteria set out in the awards categories.
We check all nominations against the criteria and then select a shortlist for each category.
All of the shortlists are then passed to the Chief Executive and Leader of the county council who decide on the winners.
If you have been shortlisted we will let you know by early October and we will invite you, a guest and your nominator and nominators guest (for teams it will be up to four members of the team and nominator) to the awards ceremony.
Withdraw a nomination
A nomination can only be withdrawn if a request is made to us either by the nominator or the nominee. Please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to do this. Other staff who are not directly involved in an individual nomination cannot request that a nomination be withdrawn.
