The Early Years Team provide a range of services to support children with emerging or identified SEND.

Our specialist teachers support providers to understand and carry out their duties in relation to SEND. This includes the early identification of and early intervention for young children with SEND.

We support the following early years providers:

  • private
  • voluntary 
  • independent
  • maintained
  • childminders

Our specialist higher level teaching assistants (HLTA) may work with providers to support early intervention for young children with SEND. They also provide our Portage home-visiting service.

Portage

For families of children up to the age of three, who have significant needs in two or more areas of development.

Inclusion fund

Additional funding for early years providers in Lancashire who are eligible for 3/4 year old funded early education (FEE).

Disability Access Fund (DAF)

Funding for three and four year old children who receive Disability Living Allowance (DLA) (link to the EEF guidance website).
