Neglect and the Graded Care Profile 2 (GCP2)

The Graded Care Profile 2 (GCP2), a licensed tool from the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC).

We have committed to rolling out GCP2 across Children's Services and partner agencies who work directly with children and families.

The implementation of the CGP2 is a key part of the Lancashire Multi-Agency Neglect Strategy. The overall aim of which is to address neglect and improve outcomes for children and families in Lancashire.

The GCP2 is a strength-based tool to assess the quality of care a child is receiving where there is known or suspected neglect. It supports professionals to measure the care provided by a parent or carer in meeting their child's needs and enables support and interventions to be put in place as early as possible to address areas of concern. You can find out more about GCP2 on the NSPCC Learning website.

Any practitioner who understands child development and safeguarding who works directly with children and families and has completed the GCP2 training is able to use the GCP2 in Lancashire.
