Child permanence reports
When a child you are caring for has a plan of adoption their social worker will write what is called a child permanence report or CPR. This is a very important document that the child will have access to in later life to help them understand why they could not grow up living with their family and how the decisions were made for them to be adopted.
It should include everything we know about their journey from birth to adoption. Many children are very young when this report is written and so they cannot always contribute to it or voice their own wishes and feelings.
In these circumstances we are therefore ask the child’s social worker to speak to the child's foster carers and ask for some information from them to include. It is important that the voice of their foster carer is heard in the CPR.
