Working with Steven Kenyon on history at Carleton St Hilda’s

Steven’s one-to-one consultancy has been of great benefit in developing our history at St Hilda’s.  He has supported us to design our own curriculum in a cohesive, progressive way with a consideration of key vocabulary, core knowledge, key concepts and chronology.  He has helped us develop our concept map, long-term planning, and sequences of learning.  Our curriculum now gives our children opportunities for enquiry-based learning, which builds on their existing knowledge and experience. 

He has helped us maintain focus on core skills and key learning whilst ensuring our children are engaged, develop a love of history and can become passionate historians.  Through planning sessions, INSET, twilight and subject leadership sessions, Steven has left us feeling confident, knowledgeable and motivated. 

Steven is knowledgeable about the national picture, Ofsted guidance and good practice.  His passion for history is evident in everything he does and it becomes infectious when you work with him.  He offers lots of practical guidance and resources to support learning  for subject leaders and teachers. 

Steven is a story teller, who shares his excitement and he has a talent for making history come alive.  He offers creative ideas, knowledge of local history and can recommend a wealth of resources. We have been fortunate to benefit from his knowledge, skills, experience and genuine passion. We are proud of the excitement for history that our journey with Steven has created.  We are fortunate to have worked with him and would recommend other schools to engage with him and LPDS services.
