This bundle consists of the following with a stop:

• one pack of A4 cards;
• one pack of A6 cards;
• 10 A4 numeral formation patter grids.

These can be used to support the teaching of the numeral formation phrases linked to the Red Rose Mastery Maths Reception scheme. This in turn is related to the Red Rose Letters and Sounds Planning Programme. Each full colour, double sided flashcard includes the phrase used to teach the formation of that numeral.

It is recommended that when teaching letter and numeral formation, a phrase is used in order to embed the directionality. All adults who teach letter and numeral formation are encouraged to use the same approach as children learn effectively through repetition.

For the numeral formation phrases, we have created two versions: This version is where the formation phrase includes the word 'stop' where a sudden change of direction is needed such as when forming the numeral 3. 'Round the seahorse's head and stop. Curve round its body.'
