Landgate and Moss Quarries (Rossendale)

Landgate and Moss Quarries are areas of open land which form part of a much bigger area of accessible moorland.  When quarrying ceased the land was used for a number of illegal activities such as dumping and abandoning cars.  Lancashire County Council reclaimed the sites to a basic standard by improving access and making them safe.  The whole area is "littered" with quarrying and mining history and can at times be a harsh environment.  Stay on well-trodden paths and tracks in these areas and be prepared for weather conditions to change rapidly.
