Safeguarding for the Designated Lead Practitioner
Course content
This course will provide a detailed overview of the role and responsibilities of the Designated Lead Practitioner for safeguarding. The session will also provide the tools and resources you need to help you in making an informed decision when making a referral to Children’s Social Care. It will support you in understanding:
- Legislation and guidance
- Learning from Serious Case Reviews
- The Levels of Need and Early Help principles
- Working Well with Children and Families in Lancashire guidance
- The importance of keeping effective records and information sharing
- The Initial Child Protection Conference and your role
- Safer Working Practice, dealing with allegations and role of the Local Authority Designated Officer
- The ongoing socio-economic impact of Covid-19
Pre-course tasks: You will be expected to complete pre-course tasks to ensure that you are fully prepared for the face to face element of the course. This knowledge is critical to fully understand the safeguarding training and the procedures to follow if you are concerned about a child. Details of the tasks will be in your confirmation letter and email.
A certificate will be awarded that is valid for two years.
Who should attend?
Individuals who take on the role of Designated Lead Practitioner within the setting.
