Who is this course for?
This session will support all practitioners working with three year olds and upwards to develop and strengthen high quality interactions with children through daily routines, group situations and circle time.
This session is recommended for those settings undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award – Communication and Language.
Course content
Practitioners have to ensure that every child has opportunities to interact with others throughout the day. Sociable children create these opportunities for themselves but children who haven’t developed the necessary communication and social skills need help so they, too, can get in on the act – and interact!
This practical session provides opportunity to look at how we can promote interaction and conversation during busy routines and group activities. We will be following suggestions and examples from the Hanen programme 'Learning Language and Loving It' including OWL – Observe, Wait and Listen and SCCAN.
