Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for practitioners working in both the PVI and maintained school sector.

This session is essential for those settings undertaking 'Step into Quality in the Early Years' Award, the Lancashire Quality Award – Relationships with Children, Parents and the Wider Community, and ‘The Role of the Adult.

Course content

Do you have any team members new to the role of the key person or existing team members who want to find out more about attachment theory and the role of the key person? This course explores the link with brain research and the vital role of the key person in nurturing attachments.

This session will consider key times of the day and how to maximise learning potential during these times and how to support smooth transitions. The routines of the day will be discussed such as welcomes and farewells, snacks, mealtimes, story times, sleep and rest, in order to strengthen those positive relationships.

The session will cover the key person's role in documenting children's learning and liaising with parents/carers to influence the development of the home learning environment.
