Quality Provision for Babies and Toddlers

Who is this course for?

This workshop is for practitioners new to working with babies and toddlers or those wishing to refresh their practice within the 0-2 years age phase.

This session is essential for those settings undertaking the 'Step into Quality in the Early Years' Award, the Lancashire Quality Award – Birth to Three and the Lancashire Quality Award – Opportunities and Experiences: The Indoor Learning Environment.

Course content

Babies and toddlers are amazing! Birth to three matters as children learn more in the first two years of their life than they do at any other time.

This course looks at this extraordinary rate of child development and considers how we can best support babies and toddlers to make sense of the world around them.

We will reflect upon brain development and attachment theory during the first few years of life and consider how this valuable research influences our role as a key person, our nurturing interactions, flexible routines and the learning environment we create for the under twos.

Practitioners attending will have the opportunity to tour the 0-2 years learning environments at the Lancashire Early Years Professional Development Centre, to support reflection and evaluation of their own setting's provision. This tour will be offered during face-to-face sessions or photos shared via the webinar training option.
