Little Scientists and Little Investigators
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for all EYFS practitioners in both the PVI and maintained school sectors.
Course content
Do you have any future scientists or engineers in your setting? This hybrid full day course takes place in two parts and will explore the key skills that children need to develop scientific and enquiring minds. The characteristics of effective learning are threaded throughout (i.e., investigating, first hand experiences, making links between ideas and developing strategies).
When you purchase this course, you will be sent a recording of the webinar with all the theoretical information you need to help you to plan, assess and observe scientific learning in your setting. You can watch this in your own time.
The afternoon (face to face) workshop will give practitioners practical ways in which children can explore and understand the world around them through practical investigations.
Delegates will consider the quality of their teaching skills throughout the training.

- demonstrating
- exploring ideas
- encouraging
- questioning
- recalling
- providing a narrative for what they are doing
- facilitating and setting challenges
It takes account of the equipment adults provide and the attention given to the physical environment. Detailed resource booklets are provided to support planning inspirational opportunities.
