Exploring beach schooling

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for practitioners working in both the PVI and maintained school sector.

This session is recommended for those settings undertaking the 'Step Outside' Award.

Course content

Lancashire's fabulous free natural resource of an accessible coastline can be used by settings to provide unique learning opportunities. This course will introduce practitioners to ways in which we can learn on the beach focusing on providing a wealth of memorable learning experiences for children. We will also explore how beach schooling can support all aspects of the early years' curriculum.

This session will be held on the beach. Please ensure you have appropriate outdoor clothing including a long-sleeved top, waterproof clothing, suitable footwear for the weather and a change of footwear for indoors.

All participants will receive a course booklet to take away with additional information and some additional tools to support how to develop beach schooling.
