Confident communicators - Developing communication and language from 3 to 5 year olds
Who is this course for?
This session will support all practitioners to develop knowledge and understanding of speech, language and communication from three to five years old.
This session is essential for those settings undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award –Communication and Language.
Course content
How confident are staff in understanding, identifying and supporting children with speech, language and communication needs? How confident are your children in communicating with others?
Communicating with others is so much a part of everyday life that it can be easy to forget that learning to talk and understand others is one of the most complex skills that a young child will learn. This course will develop practitioners' confidence in all aspects of speech, language and communication ensuring that children in their care become confident communicators. We will look at typical stages of development and discuss indicators which will identify children who may be struggling with their speech, language and communication. We will also reflect on the role of the adult, partnership with parents and how to develop a communication friendly setting.
