Course content
It is vital that all practitioners have consistent, fair and high expectations of children's behaviour and that children develop positive attitudes to learning which enables them to be confident, sociable and resilient learners. Highly skilled practitioners, who promote children's personal development well, will support them to develop their emotional literacy. This training will:
- Consider the development of children's emotional security and their character
- Explore behavioural milestones and skill development for managing feelings and behaviour
- Develop an understanding of emotional resilience and self-regulation and the impact of this on children's learning and development
- Consider how to support children to develop emotional literacy and recognise and manage their own feelings and behaviour
- Look at the role of the adult and share practical strategies and approaches that will support and promote positive behaviour
- Consider ways to help children when they struggle to manage their emotions and display more challenging behaviours
- Provide ideas to support parents with their child's behaviour, attitudes and personal development
