Supporting Early Years Children who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)

All those working with children.
This session is recommended for those undertaking the Lancashire Quality Award – Birth to Three.
Course content
Nearly half of people in England experience at least one ACE, with around 9% experiencing four or more ACEs (Blackburn & Darwen Study). Six ACEs can reduce your life expectancy by 20 years. For every 100 adults in England, 48 have suffered at least one ACE during their childhood and nine suffered four or more.
This training will explore:
- What defines a child as having Adverse Childhood Experiences
- Explore how ACEs affect children's brain development
- The impact that this may have on childhood and adulthood
- Practical advice on how to support children affected by ACEs
- Building resilience to mitigate the impact of ACEs
