Early talk boost
Who is this course for?
Childminders, who at the time of the course, are caring for a child/children aged 3 to 4 years who they believe have some delay in their speech and language development.
Early Talk Boost has been developed by specialists (www.ican.org.uk) and is a proven intervention programme to help children develop and enhance their speech and language, while also equipping you with the skills to support all the children you care for.
Preparing them to start school with the skills they need to reach their full potential. It is a targeted intervention programme for children aged 3 to 4 years old who have delayed language development. It boosts their language skills to help narrow the gap between them and their peers. Findings show that after the programme children, on average, make 6 months progress during the nine-weeks.
The programme involves you working with the child/children at least three times a week over a nine-week period. So, you will need the child to be attending your setting at least three days each week over the nine weeks.
Course content
The training session will give you the skills and knowledge to:
- Understand how ‘Early Talk Boost’ works
- Deliver the intervention sessions successfully with the tools provided • Measure children’s progress
- Involve parents You will be provided with an intervention pack (on loan over the nine weeks) which includes:
- Detailed session plans
- Resources for each session including puppets, instruments and animals and Story books
- Access to the online tool to measure and analyse progress
