Creating Amazing Outdoor Spaces

Who is this course for?

All childminders who have Early Years children at their setting.

Course content

Every childminder setting is very different, offering a variety of exciting learning opportunities through rich experiences, and this includes taking outdoor environments into consideration. Do you struggle have a clear vision in how you can further develop your outdoor spaces? Do you and your children value your outdoor space as much as your indoor space? Does your outdoor space support nature play and biodiversity and are you making the most out of the spaces you currently have?

Throughout this course we will be:

  • Exploring how to plan and develop outdoor spaces or to enhance play spaces you already have, to engage all of your children and enrich your curriculum.
  • Addressing obstacles and barriers to delivering effective outdoor learning and play in your outdoor spaces.
  • Taking away practical ideas that have high impact on children's learning but don't cost the earth
  • Considering challenging and risky play outdoors and how not to be afraid of it.
  • Exploring nature play and the opportunities it can provide in supporting children to engage more with nature and the World around them.

By the end of this course, our aim is to increase your confidence in using your outdoor areas more effectively to aid children's exploration, play and learning and to change your thinking into what you CAN do with what you HAVE GOT or can find.
