Strategic significance

Information on the strategic significance of sites is needed to complete the statutory biodiversity metric.

Strategic mapping as part of Lancashire's Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) is under development. Further information on Lancashire's LNRS can be found here:

Local Nature Recovery Strategy - Lancashire County Council

Areas of Particular Importance for Biodiversity (LNRS Step 1 Map), including statutory and non-statutory designated sites as well as irreplaceable habitat, are given on Lancashire's nature recovery map:

Prior to completion of the LNRS, strategic significance should be determined in accordance with the statutory biodiversity metric user guide

Justification for the level of strategic significance assigned to each habitat should be provided within the assessor comments boxes of the statutory metric.
