Changes to our directorates

  • We’re making some changes to our directorates. These changes will help us strengthen leadership, improve services and get ready for future challenges.
  • They’re part of our improvement plan and efficiency review and they’ll make sure we’re prepared for local government reorganisation and devolution.
  • The key changes by directorate are:
  • Adult Social Care
    • We’ve renamed the Adult Social Care Directorate. It’s now called Adults, Health and Wellbeing.
    • We’ve appointed two Directors of Operations and a Director of Commissioning.
    • Heads of Service have been restructured to reflect the new model.
    • Public Health is joining this directorate. This change brings prevention and NHS integration closer together, so we can improve support and outcomes for people.
  • Growth, Environment, Transport and Health
    • Growth, Environment, Transport and Health Directorate will now be called Place, supporting civic pride and stronger commercial leadership.
    • Public Health has moved to the Adults, Health and Wellbeing Directorate.
    • Trading Standards, Scientific Services and Community Safety will stay in Place.
    • The Director of Planning and Environment role is now Director of Environment and Regulatory, with added responsibility for procurement and commercial leadership.
  • Education and Children’s Services
    • Cultural services will become part of the Place Directorate.
    • We’ve created a new role: Director of Social Care Reform and Professional Standards. This role will lead on reforms and strengthen early help for families.
    • We’re focusing on improving SEND services and redesigning Children’s Social Care to make sure support is better and easier to access.
  • Resources and Digital
    • Customer Access has moved to Digital so we can improve online services.
    • Communications will move to the Place Directorate.
    • Procurement and commercial management will also move to Place.
    • We’ve increased capacity in data science and engineering within Digital.

Staff Survey findings

  • On Tuesday 4 November Executive Leadership Team received a presentation of the staff survey findings.
  • A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the staff survey, your feedback has helped us to understand both the positive aspects of working here and the challenges we need to address.
  • We’re acting on your feedback. Over the next two weeks, Directors will review the survey findings and agree how best to use these insights. Their aim is to tackle key workforce issues, support corporate priorities and improve your experience at work.
  • You can read a summary of the results on staff news. The full results will be available soon via the staff area of our website.
