Key messages 20 March 2026

Local Government Association Peer Review

  • From 17–20 March, we took part in a Local Government Association (LGA) Corporate Peer Review.
  • Thank you to everyone who supported the review, particularly colleagues who took part in interviews and focus groups.
  • The review looks at the whole organisation, not just those directly involved, and the feedback will help shape future priorities and improvement work.
  • The peer team is now reviewing feedback from all meetings, interviews and focus groups to identify key themes.
  • We will keep you updated and share key messages when the report is published.
  • Thank you again to everyone who contributed and to all colleagues for their support during the review period.

Senior management updates

  • Congratulations to Josh Mynott, who has been appointed as our new Chief of Staff.
  • This new role will support Mark Wynn, Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service, helping to drive forward the council’s priorities at pace.
  • As Chief of Staff, Josh will lead the Complaints, Executive Support and Member Enquiries teams. We’re delighted to welcome him into this role and wish him every success.
  • John Betts has joined us as Interim Director of Finance, providing continuity and leadership for the service until Gary Fielding starts in late spring.
  • During this interim period, John will oversee the service and support the council’s ongoing financial management and priorities.

Staff Suggestion Scheme

  • Thank you to everyone who has submitted a saving suggestion through the Staff Suggestion Scheme.
  • All outstanding suggestions are now in the final stages of review within directorates.
  • We’ll share more information in April about the ideas that are being taken forward, so please keep an eye out for further updates.
