Local Government Reorganisation survey

  • On 5 February 2025, the UK Government formally invited Lancashire to begin exploring options for local government reorganisation (LGR) and work is now underway to engage with residents and stakeholders across the county.
  • A public survey was launched at the start of September to gather views on how councils in Lancashire could be structured in future. The survey will remain open until Sunday 28 September.
  • Your feedback will help inform the development of a proposal for how local government could be organised to better serve communities across Lancashire.
  • The survey is being conducted by Cratus, an independent organisation working on behalf of all 15 Lancashire councils.
  • You can complete the survey online - it’s the quickest and easiest way to take part. If you need support, paper copies are available, and assistance is offered at local libraries.

Employee conferences recording available

  • Thank you to everyone who attended the employee conference on Thursday 11 September. Your participation and questions were greatly valued.
  • Events like this are an important opportunity to support open communication and hear directly from staff across the organisation.
  • A recording of the conference is available to view here.
  • A written summary of the question-and-answer session will be published in the coming days.

Saving suggestion scheme

  • You will know that Cabinet approved an efficiency review in June to help us navigate the significant challenges ahead.
  • Work is well underway with services across the organisation actively contributing data and insights to build a full and accurate financial picture.
  • This efficiency review is a key part of our commitment to being a future-ready council. It brings together a range of initiatives designed to improve how we use public money.
  • These include a review of how we procure and commission goods and services, deliver our existing savings plans and the way we identify new opportunities to reduce costs and improve outcomes.
  • To support this work, a new saving suggestion scheme is now available giving you the opportunity to share ideas that you believe could help us work more efficiently, reduce spend or improve services.
  • You can submit your suggestions on the intranet and the staff area of our website lancashire.gov.uk/staff.
