Lancashire Children's Services shortlisted for three national awards
Lancashire's Children's Services has been shortlisted in three categories at the 2025 National Children and Young People Awards: The Partnership Award, Children with a Disability Award, and the Biggest Impact Award.
This triple shortlisting reflects the council’s unwavering commitment to improving outcomes for children and families across Lancashire through innovation, collaboration, and care.
The three categories we have been shortlisted for are:
Partnership Award – Where Our Children Live Programme The “Where Our Children Live” initiative has been shortlisted for the Partnership Award, showcasing the power of multi-agency collaboration. This programme is driven by a bold ambition: to secure more Lancashire homes for Lancashire children. It exemplifies how strategic partnerships can deliver meaningful change and better futures.
Children with a Disability Award – Alex House Alex House, a short breaks home, has been recognised for its exceptional support to children with disabilities and their families. The team at Alex House consistently goes above and beyond, creating a nurturing and empowering environment that makes a lasting difference in the lives of those they serve.
Biggest Impact Award – Social Care & Commissioning Collaboration Lancashire’s innovative collaboration between Children’s Social Care and Commissioning has earned a finalist spot for the Biggest Impact Award. This joint effort has involved the work of our Property Review team and Estates who have played a key role in identifying and sourcing suitable buildings, working closely with the Building Group, ensuring that each site meets all relevant regulations and is fully fit for purpose. This has led to the significant reduction of unregistered or provisionally registered homes and significantly reduced the cost of care - ensuring safer, more sustainable homes for children.
The awards ceremony will take place on 3 October 2025, at the ICC in Birmingham. Being recognised in three categories at a national level is a proud moment for the council and a reflection of the positive impact being made every day.
Congratulations to all involved—and best of luck at the awards!

New county council website – freeze on content
As you know, work is well under way with building a new Umbraco CMS (the back-end Content Management System) for the county council website.
We’re now moving content to the new CMS.
As a result, we’ll only be making business-critical updates to the current website which will allow our web team to focus fully on developing the new site. If you manage your own content on the website, please speak to the web team before making any additional changes as these could be lost in the migration.
If you’re responsible for adding content to the website, the web team will have contacted you directly. Please check any webpages you manage to ensure that the information is accurate and up to date.
We expect the new site it to go live later this year.
If you are responsible for website content and haven’t been contacted by the web team, please email webteam@lancashire.gov.uk.
