The Finance and Commence function provides a comprehensive range of financial services to ensure the efficient and effective management of the organisation's financial resources. Our aim is to support strategic decision-making, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and maintain financial stability.

Our mission is to deliver comprehensive financial services that support informed decision-making, ensure regulatory compliance, and optimise the management of resources, fostering sustainable growth and operational efficiency across the organisation.
Our functions include Financial Planning and Analysis, Accounting and Compliance, Treasury and Cash Management, Procurement and Vendor Management, Financial Advisory, Commercial, Property, Payroll, and Pensions.
Our Law and Governance service provides strategic governance, legal and assurance leadership to ensure a compliant, safe, ethical and transparent council.
Our mission is to "Provide safe, ethical, transparent, and accountable legal, governance and assurance services to enable the Council to deliver the best outcomes for our residents and businesses."
Through the provision of efficient legal, information governance, customer relations, democratic services, registration, coroners, audit, investigations and risk management we aim to enhance all elements of council governance.

Comprising of change, policy, communications, customer access, and business intelligence, the newly formed Directorate works across the council and it's stakeholders to achieve the ambitions in the council plan.

Our Digital Service is dedicated to enabling all at the county council to deliver their best services. We achieve this by providing council-wide technology and digital innovation in a safe and embedded way, managing all our records, documents, mail and print & supporting the council's leadership team with effective executive assistance.
Our functions include user experience, cyber-security, Oracle Fusion, digital innovation, technology and system optimisation, digital skills, data engineering, strategic programmes and records, documents, mail and print, and executive support.
