Welcome to Lancashire Artist of the Year 2025

The competition is now closed for 2025. Thank you to everyone who entered the competition this year.

We asked for artworks depicting your favourite Lancashire view in spring, summer, autumn or winter and had a wonderful range and standard of entries.

Our judging panel picked their favourites from each season to create a shortlist which was used for the online public vote.

The results are in and the three most popular artworks from each season are our finalists of Lancashire Artist of the Year.

Winner and finalists

The winner of Lancashire Artist of the Year 2025 is Gary North, for his colourful artwork entitled 'Spring at Bridge 39 (Leeds /Liverpool canal)' which secured the most votes from the public.

The other finalists are:

Steven Robert Bruce for Springtime in Ashton Gardens, St Annes and Morris Dancers at Lytham club day

Mark Nelson for East Lancashire Town and St Annes' kite festival

Lois Jane for Chip Predator

Lynne Prescott for Woodies

David Pennington for Stocks Reservoir

Beryl Masters for Fun in the snow at Ashton Memorial, Lancaster

The finalists’ artworks will be included in a 2026 calendar sold in Lancashire County Council libraries, museums and archives, with the proceeds going towards activities for care leavers in Lancashire.
