Chorley Library closed for maintenance from next week

Thursday, May 6, 2021

Chorley Library is due to be closed for around two weeks for essential maintenance.

The library will be closed to the public from Monday 10 May while work takes place to the building's heating and electricity systems.

It is thought this work will be completed within two weeks, however regular visitors are asked to check the library website for updates.

People are asked not to return books to Chorley Library while it is closed. Books can be returned to any other Lancashire Library, renewed in person, by phone, or online.

The nearest alternative libraries are at Clayton Green, Adlington and Coppull.

Julie Bell, head of libraries for Lancashire County Council, said: "We're sorry for any inconvenience while Chorley Library is closed, and would ask people to consider using the many services available online, or one of the nearby alternatives, for the next couple of weeks.

"The maintenance to the building will be ongoing over the next 3 months, however as part of this involves replacing parts of the heating and electricity systems, these tasks can only be done while the library is closed to the public.

"We hope that we'll be able to reopen Chorley Library within two weeks of the work starting, however please check our website where we'll put an update as soon as we know exactly when we're able to reopen the library."
