'Good' rating for a Kirkham care home

Milbanke Home for Older People in Kirkham has been rated as 'Good' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).



The county council-run care home, based at Station Road, Kirkham, provides residential care for older people and those living with dementia. It can accommodate up to 45 people at a time.

Inspectors rated the service as 'good' in all areas.

Positive comments from residents and family members during the inspection included:

• "The staff take good care of me. I am very happy here."
• "This is the best home we could have chosen for relative. They are very happy here."
• "I enjoy the exercises we do with players from the local football club. They come once a week and it's great fun."

County Councillor Graham Gooch, cabinet member for adult services, said: "It's great that Milbanke has once-again been recognised as good.

"Staff have worked very hard to ensure the home is rated as good in all areas. It's a vital part of the local care system and it's important that it offers an excellent service.

"People who use the home and their families can be assured it is safe, effective, has caring staff, it's responsive to people's needs and well-led.

"I was particularly pleased to read comments from families about the fantastic activities available for residents, high safety standards and caring staff at the home.

"Well done to the team on achieving a good rating."
