A Morecambe-based service has been rated as 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Lancaster and Morecambe Short Breaks Service, run by Lancashire County Council, was given the rating, the highest possible for a care service, following an inspection which took place during September and October.
The short break service, based on Thorpe Avenue, Torrisholme, Morecambe, provides support to adults who have a disability and gives their families and carers the opportunity to have a break from their caring role.
A team of dedicated, caring and well-trained staff supports up to six adults at a time.
The building is modern and fitted out with the latest technology. The single-story building is easily accessible and has a garden, which is shared with the day centre next door.
County Councillor Charlie Edwards, lead member for health and adult services, said: "This is a superb achievement and tremendous news for the people who use Lancaster and Morecambe Short Breaks Service.
"All the staff work so hard day-in, day-out, to give people the best service, and the outstanding rating shows their efforts are paying off.
"This rating means that people can feel reassured about the safety of the service, its effective and caring staff, care workers being responsive to people's needs, and the excellent leadership from the home's management.
"Lancaster and Morecambe Short Breaks Service plays an important role in the local care system ensuring carers get a break while those they support use our service.
"The excellent work our short breaks staff do makes a huge difference to people's lives. Congratulations to this outstanding team for all their hard work."
Nicola Clear, head of the county council's adult disability service, said: "All the team at the short break service have done an absolutely fantastic job.
"It's a very flexible service with short breaks varying from single overnight stays to more extended breaks depending on the needs of the people we're supporting and their carers.
"I was particularly pleased to hear about people who use the service and their relatives praising the skills and knowledge of the staff. Inspectors also highlighted that people found staff understanding, always go out of their way to help and that the service gives them something positive to do and makes them feel good.
"The outstanding rating is a tremendous outcome. I'm very proud of the team for all their hard work."
All of Lancashire County Council's adult disability services are rated as either 'good' or 'outstanding'.
