Preston named "most improved city" for growth

The leader of the county council has commented on the news that PWC ranked Preston as the "most improved city for growth in the country".

This was announced in their Good Growth for Cities report, which came out earlier today, Thursday 1 November.

County Councillor Geoff Driver CBE, leader of the county council, said: "The growth of Lancashire's economy is one of our top priorities. Our work in Preston, such as through the City Deal, is delivering results by encouraging new businesses, helping people to get around and creating new jobs, all of which benefits people who live and work in the city.

"We're proud that this work has been recognised by PWC. It's a dynamic city that's going places and a great place for business."

The Preston, South Ribble and Lancashire City Deal, which includes the county council, are currently delivering on ambitious plans for new employment and commercial development across Central Lancashire, with the potential to create around 20,000 new private sector jobs, alongside the delivery of over 17,000 new homes.
