A new executive director for Education and Children's Services has been appointed by Lancashire County Council.
Edwina Grant OBE will join the council on a permanent basis on December 17.
She comes with a wealth of experience including her current roles as national children's services adviser for the Local Government Association, and senior adviser for Newton Europe.
Previous roles include independent chair of Solihull Metropolitan Council Local Safeguarding Children Board, deputy chief executive at Central Bedfordshire Council and director of children's services at Nottingham City Council.
Ms Grant also has a proven track record in improving school performance as well as expertise in the area of Special Educational Needs. She said: "I am delighted to be joining Lancashire County Council in this key position.
"I know that children and families are at the very heart of what the council does and the authority is committed to giving all young people, whatever their background or needs, the best possible start in life.
"I am very much looking forward to working with all the dedicated staff at the council to ensure that the recent improvements noted by Ofsted continue to be made in all areas of children's services."
Ms Grant takes over the role from John Readman, who has been in the post on an interim basis since January.
