We’re flying the flag at County Hall for Armed Forces Day

Friday, June 29, 2018

At County Hall we've joined the country in praising people who serve in our armed forces, veterans and their families ahead of the Armed Forces Day on Saturday (30 June).

Our council chairman Anne Cheetham joined the Lord-Lieutenant Lord Shuttleworth KG KVCO, county councillors, representatives from the armed forces and members of the British Legion.

Councillor Cheetham said: "Armed Forces Day gives us the chance to recognise the dedication and sacrifice of our troops and their families, many of whom can be stationed far from home in dangerous areas of the world. On behalf of Lancashire, we pass on our gratitude to the armed forces community.

"This is given added poignancy this year, as we look back to the centenary of the end of World War One, during which thousands of Lancastrians lost their lives."
