Clayton Green Library is offering a free course of artistic meditation, known as Zentangle, this month.
The free course will be held on Monday 25 June from 10am to 12 noon.
Zentangle is a form of creative art where structured, repetitive patterns are drawn, with no end vision in mind. It is a timeless, easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images.
It is known to relieve stress, increase focus and creativity, provide artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal wellbeing.
County Councillor Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: "Zentangle is now used all over the world by people with different skills, interests and ages.
"It may look like simple doodling, but it is actually a structured way to create beautiful drawings.
"I've heard that it is relaxing to do, increases focus and encourages creativity. But, best of all, anyone can learn it, regardless of artistic skill or experience.
"It is also useful as it can be practised anywhere and at any time. All you need is a pen and paper.
"I hope that people go along and gain from the personal benefits that it offers, in a very easy way."
The course will be delivered by Lancashire Adult Learning.
Places are limited so must be booked by calling in at the library on Library Road.
