There will soon be an extensive music and drama collection available at Lostock Hall Library.
The selection of music, vocal, orchestral, drama and libretto performance sets will be unveiled at an event at the library on Watkin Lane on Saturday 24 March from 10.30am to 12 noon.
This collection has been in storage for some time. It will soon be easily available for anyone to browse the collection by visiting the library.
County Councillor Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for community and cultural services will officially launch the collection at the event.
The launch will be attended by the Lostock Hall Memorial Brass Band, who are regional finalists in the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain 2018 competition. The local amateur dramatic group, the St. James Players, will also attend and perform a medley of songs from the 1930s.
Vocal and orchestral scores, and play sets for choirs, orchestras and drama societies, will be available for loan to any group that rehearses or performs in Lancashire. The group or society simply needs to be registered with the county council to be able to borrow from the collection.
Lostock Hall Library became the tenth to reopen in February, as part of the county council's flagship programme to reopen libraries which closed over a year ago.
Councillor Buckley, who will launch the collection, said: "The county council has a vast selection of orchestral, choral, libretto, music and drama sets which has previously been kept in storage. It will soon be easily available for anyone to browse the collection by visiting the library.
"Even if you want something that we don't have in stock, we'll try to obtain it for you.
"As a conductor myself and involved in musical productions, I'm really looking forward to this launch. A local brass band and drama group will also be performing for everyone. I hope that people from Lostock Hall and the surrounding area will came along to share this occasion with us."
No charge is made to search for requested material. A charge is only made when a set is supplied.
