Our training partner Go Velo, provide engaging and trainee led bike maintenance courses, which are available throughout Lancashire.
Each two hours course is customised to suit each group with a catch all, prescriptive element lasting 1½ hours, with the remaining time left for questions and answers of a more specific nature. Two fully qualified mechanic instructors are usually present for these courses, enabling the groups to split into smaller groups of different ability and suit the individual’s requirements.
The following will be covered:
- Bicycle M-Check and basic bike fit
- Removal of rear wheel
- Puncture repair
- What's in the saddle bag?
- Identifying wear and tear to drivetrain, bike cleaning and general upkeep / lubrication
- Adjusting brakes
- Indexing gears
Cycle training courses are delivered locally and free of charge. They are open to everyone who lives, works or attends education and training in Lancashire, aged 15 years old and above.
Free bike maintenance
Love to Ride Lancashire hold events where you can take your bike along for some free basic maintenance.
Fix your bike scheme
The government have introduced a Fix your Bike Voucher Scheme, which allows members of the public to receive a voucher worth up to £50 towards the cost of repairing a bicycle. This scheme has been extremely popular and the first batch of vouchers have been allocated. Further vouchers will be released when we are confident people will be able to get their bikes fixed at a wide range of retailers without significant waiting times.
