If you think that any maintained school or academy’s arrangements are unlawful or not in compliance with the School Admissions Code (external link) or law relating to admissions, you can make an objection to the Schools Adjudicator through the GOV.UK website. You have until 15 May 2020 to contact the adjudicator if you have an objection.
The relevant area for consultation on school admission arrangements
Each local authority is required to define a 'relevant area' in which admission authorities must consult annually on their proposed admission arrangements.
The relevant area is determined after a consultation with local admission authorities and is reviewed periodically. A report was presented and approved by Cabinet on 1 February 2018 and the relevant area was confirmed for consultations relating to school years 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23.

Co-ordinated admission scheme
Lancashire has a co-ordinated admissions scheme which applies to families seeking school places for September 2021.
The scheme makes applying for a secondary school place more transparent for all parties involved in the admission process. As co-ordination is a legal requirement, all Lancashire schools are included within the arrangements.
The aim of the co-ordinated scheme is to provide all parents with an offer of a single school place on the same day.

Voluntary aided and foundation schools, free schools and academies
These schools are their own admission authorities and set their own admission policies.
Determined admission arrangements from these schools will be added as we receive them. All schools must determine their arrangements on or by 28 February 2020 and send them to us by 15 March 2020.
Update on faith commitment and church attendance which has been affected by the Coronavirus - Church of England Schools and Academies
Due to the closure of church buildings for public worship from 17th March 2020, Church of England Schools and Academies have been asked to make a variation to their previously Determined Admission Arrangements for 2021 if they include Church Attendance as part of their Over Subscription Criteria. Advice and guidance on how to do this has come from the Church of England Education Office in consultation with the Office of the Schools Adjudicator (OSA) and the Department for Education.
A standard wording has been agreed with the OSA to clarify the application of the attendance requirement for schools and to request a variation to their admissions arrangements for this specific situation. The variation is in fact a clarification as to how church attendance is to be calculated in these unique circumstances. That agreed wording reads:
“In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these [admissions] arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship”.
All Diocesan Schools and Academies have been asked to request a variation from the OSA (or RSC in case of academies) which adds this clarification into their Admission Arrangements 2021.
To find the variation to the Admission Arrangements for 2021, parents are asked to check the school website, where the amended policies will be available.
