European Settlement Scheme

If you're a European Union citizen, European Economic Area citizen, or Swiss citizen living in the UK, you can apply for settled or pre-settled status using the Government's EU Settlement Scheme.

You will need to apply to this scheme if you want to continue to live in the UK after 30 June 2021.

If the UK leaves the EU, you will have until 30 June 2021 to apply for either settled or pre-settled status.

Visit gov.uk to find out more.

Who should apply

Information on who should apply for pre-settled or settled status can be found on the gov.uk website.

You can check your personal situation by using gov.uk's online tool.

If you want to apply to the EU Settlement scheme, you can use an app to scan your documents and complete the application process. Here are 5 top tips on using the app (external website).

The EU Exit app must be downloaded onto an Android smartphone or tablet. This does not need to be your own device.

Help to complete the EU settlement application process

If you are not confident about completing the online application process, you may be able to get help at some of our libraries through the Assisted Digital Support scheme.

This free service is available at Accrington, Burnley, Chorley, Colne, Morecambe, Ormskirk, Preston Harris, Rawtenstall, Skelmersdale and St Anne's libraries.

To find out if you can access the Assisted Digital support scheme, you will need to contact We Are Digital, who will assess your eligibility and make a booking with one of these libraries.

The service will be provided to people who are unsure of how to use the Android device or the app. It will also be available to those who are having difficulties navigating the gov.uk website or those without an Android device or access to the internet.

Contact We Are Digital between 9am and 6pm, Mondays to Fridays or between 9am and 4pm on Saturdays by calling 03333 445 675 or texting the word “VISA” to 07537 416 944.
