Shaping SEND with young people
POWAR is Lancashire County Council's participation council group for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
The charities, Council for Disabled Children (CDC) and KIDS will deliver a new national participation programme with disabled children and young people, and children and young people with SEN. It has been funded for one year by the Department for Education (DfE) and will provide a range of resources, activities and events focussing on young people’s participation. There is more information on the CDC website.
VIPER stands for Voice, Inclusion, Participation, Empowerment and Research. The Vipers were a group of 16 young disabled people from across England who researched disabled young people’s participation in decision making. VIPER produced a number of excellent resources including Hear us Out - a guide to setting up or running participation opportunities for groups of disabled young people.
