We invited children, young people, parent carers and professionals to share their ideas at three collaborative workshops during 2016/17. They will help us to listen to your ideas to help influence and shape the future of SEND in Lancashire together.
#SENDtogether Collaborative Workshop 3
The third #SENDtogether Collaborative Workshop is on Friday 30 June 2017. The theme will be shaping services across Lancashire for children and young people with SEND. We want to look at how we can make sure that the right support is available at the right time.
To do this we will pull on your experiences, knowledge and skills. We have asked representatives to gather everyone's views at a range of meetings such as:
- School council meetings
- POWAR meetings
- Youth clubs
- PTA meetings
- Local parent carer forums
- In the school yard waiting to pick up children
- Coffee mornings
- Professionals' team meetings
At the workshop, we will be sharing these views which will enable us to shape the future of SEND support and services in Lancashire.
Be sure to follow our twitter updates throughout the day on #SENDtogether.
#SENDtogether Collaborative Workshop 2
The second #SENDtogether Collaborative Workshop was on Friday 3 March 2017. The theme of the day was education, health and care (EHC) plans. Thank you to everyone who came along and represented others.
Before the workshop, we gathered people's views on EHC plans using a survey. At the workshop we talked about the results of the survey and how we can make EHC plans better in Lancashire. Some people shared their journeys through SEND in Lancashire. We also talked about working together and what we can do so that more voices can be heard across Lancashire.

Nothing about me without me…
The new Children and Families Act (2014) gives families and children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) greater choice in decisions to ensure your needs are properly met.
Here in Lancashire, we want to change the way we work to improve the lives of families and children with SEND by working together and putting children and parent carers at the heart of our decisions.
This is the beginning of a very exciting and revolutionary journey for Lancashire and we are looking forward to putting this brand new way of working into practice.
