The Coronation
The Coronation of His Majesty The King & Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place on Saturday 6 May at Westminster Abbey.
People across the country and the Commonwealth are invited to celebrate the coronation over a weekend of special events on 6–8 May.
A special Bank Holiday has been proclaimed by the Prime Minister on Monday 8 May in honour of the Coronation.

Local events and activities
Events and activities will be taking place across Lancashire as many of our services are getting involved with the celebrations.
- Two special Coronation Flags will be flying high at County Hall in Preston.
- Our Lancashire libraries will be holding craft events, where you can make your own crowns, coronation parties and lots of celebration events.
- Celebrate the Coronation with a truly British tradition! Enjoy a delicious afternoon tea packed with the best of British flavours at Helmshore Mills on Friday 5 May. Pre-book your place and menu by 3 May to ensure your spot.
- The magnificent Gawthorpe Hall in Padiham will be holding a special event where you can hunt for the royal jewels. See our events website to find an event near you at our libraries and museums.
- Primary schools across Lancashire will be holding their own street party themed events on 4 May with a picnic lunch served in union jack packed lunch boxes, supplied by our Lancashire Catering Service.
- Our Lancashire Archives Service are providing photographs and information from previous coronations which will be displayed in exhibitions in some of our libraries.
- Our Older People's Care services will be hosting events in our care homes and day centres, from a garden party at Lady Elsie Finney House, to afternoon tea at Milbanke Older People's Day Centre.
- The Chairman will be hosting a reception for invited environmental volunteers on 10 May.
National events
The extended bank holiday will provide an opportunity for communities to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.
6-8 May - The Big Lunch
The Big Lunch brings neighbours and communities together to share friendship, food and fun.

Saturday 6 May - Coronation Ceremony
The Coronation of His Majesty The King & Her Majesty The Queen Consort will take place at Westminster Abbey, London and will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
Sunday 7 May - Coronation Concert
A spectacular concert will be performed at Windsor Castle with iconic locations across the UK lit up using projections, lasers, drone displays and illuminations.
Monday 8 May - Big Help Out
A special Bank Holiday has been proclaimed by the Prime Minister in honour of the Coronation, giving everyone the opportunity to join in with their communities and good causes through Big Help Out activities.

Funding
Local Member Grants funding
We’ve increased our Local Member Grant budgets for each county councillor by £500 this financial year to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. This means each county councillor will have a budget of £2,500 to fund community, voluntary and faith projects to groups that apply in their area during the 2023/24 financial year.
