Support for young people who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or are questioning their sexual identity (LGBTQ)
Some young people who identify as LGBTQ can experience a lack of support, awareness and acceptance from their family, friends and other people in their lives.
LGBTQ groups can provide additional advice, support or a safe space to meet other young people who have had similar experiences.
In South and North Lancashire, Lancashire County Council provides LGBT youth groups for young people aged 12 - 19. They meet weekly and offer a safe confidential space where LGBTQ young people can come together, share experiences, meet new friends and celebrate difference and diverse identities.
If you would like to come along and get involved, please contact:
North Lancashire - Lancaster, Morecambe and surrounding areas
Proud Youth R Out (PYRO) - 07717 301 821
South Lancashire - South Ribble, Chorley, Preston and surrounding areas
Power to be Out (POUT) - 0800 783 1524
Rainbow Generation is a project which provides opportunities for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual and questioning young people from across Lancashire to campaign and have their voices heard on issues that affect their lives.
They have achieved many successes, such as making information DVDs, resource packs, training professionals on LGBTQ issues and having an exhibition in the Museum of Lancashire.
You can get involved with Rainbow Generation through the PYRO and POUT LGBT youth groups.
There is a programme of activities throughout the year providing diverse and interesting things for you to do.
