North Lancashire

Selected Priority routes in Lancaster, Wyre and Fylde Districts will be gritted this evening.
North-westerly winds will continue to blow showers in from the Irish Sea this afternoon, particularly so for southern and western Lancashire, but some showers will affect northern and eastern areas too. The showers will fall as a mixture of rain, hail, sleet and hill snow, with road surface temperatures diving toward zero during the passage of showers. Through this evening and tonight, with little change in wind direction, showers will keep generating over the Irish Sea and move inland. Again, these will be wintry in nature, mainly over the higher ground. The combination of the fresh wind and passing shower cloud may hold road surface temperatures above zero on some routes, especially close to the coast, although they will dive sharply toward zero in any lengthy clear spells. Further inland and particularly on high ground, road surface temperatures will fall a little below zero with a risk of ice. Further scattered showers and sunny spells tomorrow morning.
