Selected priority routes in Wyre, Fylde & Lancaster will be gritted this evening.

The forecast is for sunny spells and scattered wintry showers this afternoon. This evening, clouding over with more persistent rain and sleet spreading from the southwest overnight, heaviest and most widespread after midnight when there is risk much of it will turn to wet snow on high ground were RSTs will drop below zero with snow readily settling. In the heavier bursts wet snow may also fall temporarily on some low ground sending RSTs close to zero with some slushy accumulations possible, although most of the snow will be across Pennine areas. The snow should turn back to rain and sleet before dawn in the more southern areas, and further north soon after dawn as slightly less cold air feeds up from the south.
