North Lancashire

All priority routes in Lancaster, Wyre and Fylde districts will be gritted this evening.

Cloudy this afternoon with outbreaks of rain, heavy at first this afternoon. Rain will clear northeastwards for a short time this evening before it stalls and moves back in. Southeasterly winds will strengthen and turn easterly this evening and overnight which will drag in some very cold air. This will turn rain to sleet and then snow, initially over the high routes before getting down to sea level later. Snow is expected to fall mostly across eastern parts, with drier and clearer conditions in western fringes. Under the snow RSTs will get close to or just below zero with the risk of ice in places. Sunny spells and a few snow showers tomorrow morning, these mainly across eastern areas with drier and brighter conditions in the west.

Please drive carefully.

See our online gritting map for details of our priority routes.

Priority routes only cover a third of the highway network and ice patches can develop on treated surfaces caused by water run-off from fields or other sources. Ice is most likely on untreated surfaces
