Improvement work on Lord Street in Preston city centre has been put on hold temporarily, due to an issue affecting a nearby road.
Lancashire County Council has identified an issue affecting Old Vicarage, which will close from tomorrow morning (Friday 2 March) while urgent unscheduled work is carried out to find the cause.
Old Vicarage has been used as an alternative route for vehicles, as part of the improvement work on Lord Street, next to the Guild Hall.
Lord Street will reopen while this work is carried out, and diversion signs will be in place.
Bus operators have been notified. Bus stops on Lancaster Road outside the town hall will not reopen.
