A new Lancashire County Council exhibition supporting National Care Leavers' Week opens at the Harris Museum, Preston later this month.
The free display 'Sincerely, You' runs from Thursday 26 October to Friday 3 November.
National Care Leavers' Week highlights the needs of care leavers, and encourages all organisations responsible for looking after them to work effectively together.
The exhibition will feature around 100 letters written by children and young people who are either currently looked after by the county council or have been. They wrote the letters to themselves when in care to capture their thoughts and feelings at the time.
County Councillor Susie Charles, Lancashire County Council Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Schools, said: "The letters are all different, and give a very personal view of experiences of being looked after, as well as an insight in to their adult life.
"The national campaign aims to raise awareness of care leavers and I hope that as many people as possible take this opportunity and visit the exhibition.
"We intend to make really good use of the individual experiences shared in the letters, and use them in future as part of the training of people working with children including foster carers and social workers."
People can also visit the exhibition at:
