Repairs to an electrical fault on London Road in Preston will continue over the weekend, with the aim of reopening the road early next week.
The fault has affected the traffic signals at the London Road, New Hall Lane and Queen Street junctions. Temporary traffic lights have been put in place while the repairs are carried out.
Daniel Herbert, Lancashire County Council's highways group manager, said: "We apologise for the inconvenience caused during this emergency repair work at a major junction.
"This is a busy junction and we know that it has significantly affected this area, as well as other parts of the city centre.
"Please allow more time for journeys in this area, which have been disrupted, especially at peak times. We know that this is likely to affect the rush hour on Monday.
"We are doing everything that we can to fix it as soon as possible. Work is already taking place, and will be continuing over the weekend, to try to fix the fault by early next week."
