4. Scope and arrangement of the collection.

The collection contains books, pamphlets, maps, illustrations and ephemera devoted chiefly to the township of Poulton-le-Fylde but also including some material relating to the surrounding villages. The collection is mostly for reference use only but in some cases copies may be made available for loan from the lending library collection.

5. Catalogues and bibliographies

All volumes of the Lancashire Bibliography published to date are held, together with the Guides to the Lancashire Record Office.

The collection is fully catalogued on the county's LINNET computer system.

6. Directories

A number of directories dating from 1851 are held as well as photocopies covering the Poulton area from 1828 - 1953.

7. Electoral registers and poll books.

Electoral registers are held for Poulton from 1970 to date.

8. Rate books

9. Census enumerators' returns

The Poulton returns for 1841 – 1881, transcribed by Annette Anderson, are available for reference. The 1891 census is available on microfiche.
